There are several ways you can delete an account.

You need to tag the account for deletion before it is actually deleted. To tag the account you can right-click on the account name and then select "Delete Account".

You can also select the account by simply left-clicking on it one-time and then click on "Delete" from the menu bar above. You will know it has been tagged by it's red appearance.
